Steven Kasapi Professional Interests

I currently work at a very fine fabless GPU semiconductor company in Santa Clara on yield-related projects. My specialty is failure analysis tools and techniques, and I'm particularly interested in applying optical failure analysis techniques to integrated circuit yield ramp. I'm happy there. I'm a nerd.

I've spent most of my post-grad-school career developing tools for failure analysis. I'm interested in both engineering and marketing aspects of product development. I know most engineers and marketers don't get along, but they are inextricably linked. "Why fight it," I say, "do both."

I also enjoy photography and things related to large-scale image manipulation professionally and semi-professionally. If you're interested we can talk about what I mean.

I spent a few months tinkering with how to make a color printer produce smooth, photographic B&W prints. I got the whole setup working, with tubes of grey inks feeding into a Borg-like modified printer. Then Epson came out with their 3800 and obviated my hobby. Now I just use the 3800.

I have a persistent interest in gadgets and new technology in general. I'm an early adopter, but so far that hasn't provided me with the material advantage I'd expected. I'm still convinced that one day there will be a perfect gadget that will solve all of my and all of the world's problems. I'm committed to helping that come about.

Professional Organizations

I'm a member of these organizations off-and-on. I tend to re-join when I attend a conference sponsored by one of these organizations. I to try to keep abreast of what is going on in most of them.
