Steven Kasapi's Place - thoughts on Facebook

I gave up on Facebook because it became creepy.

I gave up on Facebook at the beginning of 2010 because I didn't trust Faceook. There is no guarantee of privacy on Facebook. Even worse, once you post information to Facebook, you lose control over what they do with that information. It seems crazy to me to give a company control over so much private information, so I stopped doing it.

A great thing about Facebook was how easy it was to connect with old friends and see what they are doing. I missed that, so I re-started my Facebook account. It was shockingly easy. After being gone for 3 months, everything came back.

As I said, creepy.

Now I just link from my Facebook account to the Web site. It's old school, but it should work. I hope having a Web site will make it easier for old friends to find me without providing fodder to spammers and crazy people.
